Lou Cabanon at Villa Noailles

Lou Cabanon, a project by Marisol Santana and Emily Chakhtakhtinsky, was presented at Villa Noailles as part of Design Parade Toulon 2023. This installation, awarded the Prix du Mobilier National, paid tribute to vernacular peasant cabins and their resilience in the face of Mediterranean climate challenges.

Eska Paris was invited to create two series of candles in dialogue with the project’s universe. The first, Les Flamberges, offers a graphic interpretation of three melliferous flowers—lavender, periwinkle, and calendula—crafted by combining dipping and hand-modelling techniques. The second consists of three monumental candles in raw beeswax, made by casting, and presented as standalone sculptures within the installation.
